Your name's not down, you are not coming in. Heading onward to the Abbey I follow the trail and see many signs stating that the roads off to one side are private and that CCTV is present. At the top I then head down a magnificent drive towards the Abbey itself, but although there are signs for visitor parking, the place doesn’t seem to be open. I follow my route but unsurprisingly discover that the trail down to the bridge to return to the other side of the lake is yet another private, no entry road. I peruse my OS map looking to see how to get down when a security chap appears and tells me that the section I am on is also private and I need to go back up the way I came.
